How To Choose The Perfect Wedding Destination
You and your spouse are from different parts of America. Your love comes from another nation. Your guests will be coming from all around the globe. This was the question that Jack and I posed to us when we were engaged in October , while travelling across Greece. Finding the perfect wedding destination was definitely a challenge and a lot of fun to work on.
For those who want to know the facts, I am from the Pacific Northwest, traveled the world at a young age I worked for a number of years abroad in Florida and spent my entire adult life in NYC. Jack, my handsome prospective husband, comes from the South with numerous family members. He is also a frequent traveler and has a large group of Texan friends living in New York. I'm a Sagittarius, and I'm happy to wed anywhere (wedding on an Amazonian riverboat please?) Jack is a Taurus. He's more focused and thoughtful than Jack and is also extremely adventurous.
Get rid of places that you don't want To Get Married
We knew that we would not return home to be married to our world-traveling weddings on beach photographer. It didn't make sense for us to pick one side of our families over the other because we came from different regions of the United States. Additionally, Washington's weather is so volatile that Texas isn't truly "us".
Find Your Perfect Guest Count
It is much easier to choose a destination knowing the amount of people you need to accommodate at the various venues. A bigger wedding will require plenty of space and more vendor help for example, an experienced and bigger hotel (which could be more expensive) or building an event space on a large area of land. If you're content with a small wedding, you can throw a party within your budget almost anywhere.
Ballpark Your Budget
This may come before the second step, and you might want to take this in parallel, however the easiest method of narrowing your search is knowing how much you can spend. What if you have an extremely tight budget? Although you can certainly marry anyplace, flying to the Maldives is more difficult than a drive trip to the sea cliffs of Maine. Unlimitless budget? Lucky you! The world is your oyster
Based on my wedding experience and the ability to find solutions I was of the opinion that our budget was a bit easily manageable. Even though I'm in the wedding business I've always wanted to reduce costs for everyone. I hope and plan to keep our costs well under the average for all of America.
My experience shows that weddings overseas are typically more affordable if you're having smaller numbers of guests than ours. We set our sights on countries like Mexico, Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Morocco, (and even our beloved Vietnam!) It is considered to be as a wedding on a beach in California as there are just a handful of Californians.
Take Your Globe - From Where will your guests travel?
You don't need to worry about whether or not your loved ones can make it to the fete. Check out the world map to see which countries are similarly close to you. Although it's unlikely that all is able to attend, there are options that may make it easier for your guests to attend.
Important tip
simply because a location is closer geographically does not mean that it will take longer to travel there. When I was in New York, I have been to weddings across the USA which were more difficult to access (and much more expensive) as compared to my Florida weddings.
